One Killed, One Seriously Injured in Accident on 2 Freeway [Weslaco, TX]

Fatal Car Accident on 2 Freeway in Weslaco

 
WESLACO, TX (May 9, 2023) – The Weslaco Police Department confirmed that one person died in an accident in the 500 block of 2 Freeway on May 5.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the westbound side of the freeway near a ramp. Based on a report, a white Ford sedan and a maroon four-door Dodge Ram pickup collided in the lanes.
 
As a result, an occupant in one of the vehicles suffered severe injuries died at the scene. Officers did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Crews airlifted another person to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
They also redirected traffic between westbound frontage road from North Bridge Street to Texas Boulevard.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
