Speeding Causes Fatal Crash on Taft Avenue in Maricopa

 
MARICOPA, AZ (February 20, 2024) – The Maricopa Police Department confirmed that one person died in a crash on Taft Avenue on February 9.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at McDavid Road around 2:30 PM. Based on a report, the victims were inside a speeding vehicle during the crash.
 
Police said the car failed to make a left turn just east of Taft Avenue, crossed the eastbound lanes, and crashed into a tree.
 
As a result, the car’s passenger suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Maricopa Fire transported the car’s driver to a Valley hospital with life-threatening injuries.
 
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office’s Vehicular Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation. As of now, no other details are available.
