TEMPE, AZ (February 20, 2024) — A child died following two chain-reaction car accidents on Highway 60 on Monday, February 12.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the first accident happened just before 8:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Highway 60 near Rural Road.

DPS said the driver of an SUV tried to change lanes. Then a chain reaction crash happened with seven other vehicles. Paramedics transported several people, including two minors, involved in the crash to a hospital. One of the minors succumbed to their injuries and died.
