Driver Killed in High-Speed Accident on Maple Valley Highway in Renton

 
RENTON, WA (October 31, 2023) – The Renton Police Department confirmed that one person died in an accident on Maple Valley Highway on October 15.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the accident happened at 154th Place Southeast just after 8:30 PM. Based on a report, a trooper attempted to pull the driver over when he fled at a high rate of speed.
 
WSP said the trooper who tried to pull the suspect over did not pursue. Subsequently, the suspect ran a red light and crashed into an SUV.
 
As a result, the suspect suffered grave injuries and died in the accident. Officials did not yet release the 39-year-old male victim’s name, pending next of kin notification.
 
Crews transported the 72-year-old female driver of the SUV to Harborview Medical Center after suffering critical injuries. However, police did not provide an update on the driver’s condition.
 
At this point, an investigation into the fatal accident is ongoing. As of this report, no other details are available to the public.
