Construction Worker Involved in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Main Street in Mesa

 
MESA, AZ (October 31, 2023) – Authorities confirmed that a vehicle struck and killed a construction worker in an accident on Main Street on October 18.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Greenfield Road. Based on a report, a vehicle was traveling near the intersection when its driver switched lanes due to a construction barricade.
 
Subsequently, the vehicle abruptly swerved back to avoid a vehicle turning onto a private drive. It then went into a coned construction area in the middle lane and struck the worker who was deploying equipment in the area.
 
As a result, the worker suffered grave injuries and died in the incident. Officials did not yet release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
The worker was wearing a high-visibility traffic vest at the time of the crash.
 
The driver reportedly stayed on the scene and didn’t show any signs of impairment.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
