One Killed, One Critical after Head-On Crash on Highway 317 [McGregor, TX]

Two Vehicles Involved in Fatal Head-On Crash on Highway 317 in McGregor

 
MCGREGOR, TX (September 22, 2022) – Police confirmed one death in a head-on car crash on Highway 317 on September 20.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened shortly before 7:30 AM.
 
Based on a report, an Austin man was driving a Chevrolet Equinox southbound on the highway prior to the crash. Due to unknown reasons, the vehicle veered into the northbound lane and collided head on with a GMC Sierra.
 
As a result, the Chevy driver died at the scene. Officers only identified him as a 57-year-old Austin resident.
 
The driver of the GMC, a Temple man, suffered critical injuries in the incident. Paramedics airlifted the victim to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.
 
As of now, an investigation is underway. In addition, there are no other details available.
