DUI Driver Involved in Fatal Crash on 23rd Avenue at South Meridian in Puyallup

 
PUYALLUP, WA (December 8, 2022) – Police confirmed that one person died in a suspected DUI crash on 23rd Avenue on December 4.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at South Meridian around 2:07 AM. Based on a report, a 32-year-old Tacoma man was driving near the intersection when he hit a car parked in the middle of the road.
 
Later on, he told officers that he saw a person lying unconscious next to the vehicle. Then, he called 911 while attempting CPR on the victim.
 
Despite his effort, emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Officials did not yet release the deceased’s identity.
 
A passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
 
As a result, officers arrested the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular homicide. As of now, the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
