Rider Dead after Motorcycle Accident on Lewis Street

 
PASCO, WA (February 28, 2024) — One person suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle accident on Lewis Street on Friday, February 16.
 
According to Sergeant Richard Leininger with the Pasco Police Department, the accident took place on West Lewis Street and 14th Avenue was between a vehicle and a motorcycle.
 
Sgt. Leininger said the motorcycle moved eastbound on Lewis Street. At the same time, the vehicle traveled north on 14th Avenue.
 
The motorcycle then struck the vehicle on the front driver-side fender. It then caused the airbags to deploy on impact.
 
The driver of the vehicle and teen passenger were not hurt during the collision.
 
When authorities responded and arrived on the scene, they tried to perform life-saving measures on the motorcyclist. However, the rider succumbed to sustained injuries. They pronounced them dead at the scene.
 
Authorities said impairment did not contribute to the incident. The driver will not be charged.
 
The Pasco Police Department closed 14th Avenue and West Lewis for several hours during the investigation. However, it has since reopened.
