12-Year-Old Passenger Ejected, Killed in Single-Car Crash on Highway 99 in Harris County

 
BURLESON, TX (February 28, 2024) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a 12-year-old girl died in a car crash on Highway 99 on February 19.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at West Road around 11:45 PM. Based on a report, the victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 36-year-old woman.
 
Due to unknown reasons, the woman left the road and hit a cable barrier system. Subsequently, the vehicle rolled over and ejected the victim.
 
As a result, the girl sustained grave injuries and died at the scene. She was the driver’s niece. Officials did not yet release her name, pending kin notification.
 
Also inside the vehicle were the driver’s 56-year-old mother and children ages 1, 3, and 16. Emergency crews transported the 16-year-old to the hospital with a broken clavicle.
 
The sheriff said the driver cooperated with the investigation and didn’t show signs of intoxication.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
