VAIL, AZ (January 24, 2024) – Officials confirmed that one person died in a head-on accident on Highway 83 on January 19.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at approximately 3:08 AM. Based on the report from their Southern Operational Communications Center, they received an Apple iPhone crash alert at the time of the collision.
 
Initial calls said that a small sedan and a minivan with two individuals crashed on the highway.
 
As a result, the driver of the sedan suffered grave injuries and died at the scene. Officials did not release the victim’s name, pending kin notification.
 
Authorities say the driver of the minivan was impaired. They later arrested the suspect for DUI.
