Fatal Fiery Accident on 10 Freeway in Avondale

 
AVONDALE, AZ (September 10, 2024) — One person died following a fiery accident on 10 Freeway on Friday, August 30.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened shortly after midnight on the 10 Freeway near Dysart Road.
 
DPS troopers responded to the scene. There they found a semi-truck, a Toyota Camry, and a Chevrolet Corvette. They believe the Corvette traveled at a high rate of speed before it crashed into the semi and the Camry.
 
As a result of the collision, the semi-truck and Corvette both caught fire. Authorities said the Corvette driver attempted to flee the scene. However, Goodyear police detained the driver near the freeway.
 
The semi-truck driver died in the accident. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the drivers of the other two vehicles to the hospital.
 
DPS troopers said the initial investigation suspects impairment as a factor in this accident.
