Baby Dies in Mesa Multi-Vehicle Accident on Power Road and Baseline Road

 
MESA, AZ (September 10, 2024) — A nearly 3-month-old boy died following a multi-vehicle accident on Power Road on Sunday, September 1.
 
According to the Mesa fire officials, the accident occurred on Power Road and Baseline Road at about 1:30 p.m.
 
Mesa Police said a Honda Civic approached Power Road. Then it rear-ended a Subaru Forester stopped at a red light. The impact of the collision pushed the second vehicle into the intersection and overturned. The Honda also collided with an Audi.
 
Paramedics brought four people in the Subaru to a hospital. The driver and front passenger of the vehicle sustained minor injuries. A child received treatment for a broken bone.
 
The 2-month-old boy in the back seat on the passenger’s side of the Subaru died at Banner Children’s Hospital.
 
The driver of the first vehicle had broken bones and received treatment at the hospital.
 
Police said there are no signs of intoxication. However, they do believe speed is a contributing factor in the collision.
 
The accident is still under investigation.
