Man Dead after Glendale Bicycle Accident on 51st Avenue and Glendale Avenue
GLENDALE, AZ (September 10, 2024) — A man died following a bicycle accident on 51st Avenue on Thursday, August 29.
According to the Glendale police, the accident happened at about 4:00 a.m. near 51st Avenue and Glendale Avenue.
Glendale Police said a vehicle struck a 66-year-old man on a bike. Paramedics transported him to the hospital in life-threatening condition. Despite receiving treatments, he still died from sustained injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of loved ones.
Glendale police said that the driver of the vehicle saw an officer doing paperwork in a nearby parking lot. Then the driver self-reported the incident. They do not suspect impairment contributed to the crash.
Authorities closed 51st Avenue in both directions from Glendale Avenue to Maryland Avenue for the morning commute. They reopened the area at about 8:30 a.m.
