Solvang Rollover Crash Kills Roberto Garcia Jr., Hospitalized Three Others

 
SOLVANG, CA (October 11, 2022) – Roberto Garcia Jr. died while three others were injured on Ballard Canyon Road on Monday, September 12.

The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to a rollover crash late around 11:00 p.m. near Roble Blanco Road. The crash involved 19-year-old Solvang resident Garcia Jr. and three other females around the ages of 18-19.

According to reports, Garcia Jr. was traveling north in his 2005 BMW M3 when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The car then veered into a metal fence and crashed into a tree.

The impact caused the car to flip over and trapped all four teenagers inside, Santa Barbara County Fire.

Authorities had to pull everyone out of the vehicle. Santa Ynez Cottage Hospital gave medical attention to Garcia Jr., where he later died.

The three other passengers were all injured ranging from serious to moderate, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Drugs and alcohol are unknown factors in the accident. Authorities said that the speed of the vehicle is currently undetermined.
