Three Killed, Three Critically Injured After Crash on Quebec Avenue

 
HANFORD, CA (October 11, 2022) – Two kids and a teenage driver died while Emma Barbara Figueroa and two more kids were injured in crash on Highway 41 on September 11.

The California Highway Patrol responded to a crash that happened just south of Quebec Avenue near Hanford. The crash involved a 29-year-old Figueroa from Monterey and her kids.

Figueroa was traveling south with her four children on her gray 2006 Honda Odyssey at 55 mph, according to CHP.

A 19-year-old male driving a white 2018 Honda was traveling on the opposite lane at an increasing speed from 65 to 75 mph. The teenager drove to the southbound lane where he passed through oncoming vehicles at around 80 to 85 mph. As a result, he crashed into the vehicle where Figueroa and her kids were.

The teenage driver died at the scene.

One of Figueroa’s children also died at the scene. Another child later on passed away at the hospital. The deceased children were the 8-year-old daughter and the 5-year-old son of Figueroa, CHP said.

Figueroa and her two other children are in critical condition, but are expected to recover from injuries.

CHP is looking further to what may have caused the crash. Involvement of drugs and alcohol is unknown as of now.
