Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Alessandro Drive in Palm Desert

 
PALM DESERT, CA (May 18, 2023) — One person sustained fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident on Alessandro Drive on Thursday, May 4.
 
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, deputies rushed to the crash on the 74000 block of Alessandro Drive near Portola Avenue around 5:45 p.m. The pedestrian tried to walk south across the street when a vehicle struck them.
 
The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries. Paramedics transported them to the hospital, where the pedestrian died. Their identity is not yet available, pending notification of their family.
 
Authorities closed Alessandro Drive for the investigation. It has since reopened.
 
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Officers said drugs and alcohol do not appear as factors in the fatal crash.
