DUI Driver Involved in Seattle Crash on 5 Freeway at Mercer Street

 
SEATTLE, WA (October 13, 2023) – Officials confirmed multiple injuries after a DUI crash on 5 Freeway on October 6.
 
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at Mercer Street around 5:30 AM. Based on a report, a man in his 30s was driving a car when he crashed with another vehicle.
 
As a result, the Seattle Fire Department said several people were hurt. Crews transported the man to Harborview Medical Center. They also took three women and a teen from the other car to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
 
Troopers took one driver into custody for suspected impairment.
 
Crews closed all southbound lanes of the freeway and diverted all traffic onto Mercer Street.
