FULLERTON, CA (December 13, 2022) — A motorcyclist died while a driver was injured in an accident on Commonwealth Avenue and State College Boulevard on Saturday morning, December 3.

According to the Fullerton Police, the fatal incident happened at about 9:55 a.m. and involved a motorcycle and a Toyota Camry.

Authorities said a 27-year-old man riding a motorcycle traveled westbound on Commonwealth Avenue. He then came to a stop at the intersection with a green light as he waited for traffic to clear before making a southbound turn onto State College Boulevard.

As the motorcyclist waited at the intersection, the Camry – operated by an 82-year-old man – entered the intersection northbound on State College Boulevard. Under unclear circumstances, this resulted in a collision.

The force of impact caused fatal injuries to the motorcyclist, who later died at a trauma center.

The driver of the Camry ended up running off the road and slamming into a tree. He survived with moderate injuries and received treatment at a trauma center afterwards.

The cause and factors surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
