MODESTO, CA (January 31, 2023) – 60-year-old Michael Russ is facing charges after he allegedly hit and killed a pedestrian on Prescott Road on January 17.

According to the Modesto Police Department, the fatal accident happened at approximately 9:45 p.m. just south of Standiford Avenue.

Based on reports, a 65-year-old woman was crossing Prescott Road when a GMC Yukon struck her. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Russ.

Russ did not stop and continued driving away from the scene. Authorities later found him a few blocks away.

At this point, Russ is charged with suspicion of murder, manslaughter, felony driving under the influence, and felony hit-and-run.
