Melissa Peterson, 11-Year-Old Bentleigh Peterson and 7-Year-Old Kingston Peterson Killed in Fiery Crash on Highway 78 [Pueblo, CO]

PUEBLO, CO (December 7, 2023) – The Pueblo County Coroner identified 43-year-old Melissa Peterson, 11-year-old Bentleigh Peterson, and 7-year-old Kingston Peterson who died in a crash on Highway 78 on November 21.
 
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash happened outside of Beulah. Based on a report, Melissa Peterson was driving a car westbound on Highway 78 at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, she ran off the road, traveled about 400 feet, and crashed into a tree. Her vehicle then spun out into a fence before it burst into flames.
 
As a result, Melissa Peterson and the two kids suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
A family member organized a fundraising for Bentleigh and Kingston.
 
Troopers do not suspect drugs and alcohol to be factors in the crash.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
