Martin Sandoval Killed after Multi-Vehicle Accident in East Wenatchee
EAST WENATCHEE, WA (November 22, 2024) — A 30-year-old Wenatchee man, identified as Martin Alvarez Sandoval, died in a collision on Friday, November 15.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred at around 1:25 p.m. on Highway 28 near South Union Avenue.
WSP said a 2019 GMC Sierra traveled westbound on Highway 28. Then it crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a 2016 Ford Edge. After that, it crashed head-on with a 2011 Ford Mustang.
The Edge rolled off the road. All vehicles came to a stop in an eastbound ditch of the highway near milepost 4.
Sandoval, who drove the Mustang, died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics brought his passenger, 27-year-old Brenda Medina Bustos, from Wenatchee, to Confluence Health Hospital.
In addition, paramedics also brought the Sierra driver identified as 37-year-old Tiffany Moncrief, of Ephrata, and the Edge driver 51-year-old Robert Karpiscak, of East Wenatchee, to the hospital.
Investigators determined the cause of the accident was failure to maintain lane.
Officials closed the highway until around 4:45 p.m. Friday.
