Lisa Rawlings, Martin Arroyo Killed in Weslaco Car Accident
WESLACO, TX (May 18, 2023) — Authorities said 36-year-old Martin Anthony Arroyo and 30-year-old Lisa Jo Rawlings died in a two-car crash.
According to the Weslaco Police, the incident took place on the 6000 block of 2 Freeway on Friday, May 5.
The preliminary investigation determined that a stalled vehicle with its emergency lights was stopped in the 600 block of the westbound outermost lanes. At the same time, another car approaching tried to stop.
After that, a third vehicle – a white Ford Focus – swerved left into the middle lane to prevent crashing into the cars in front of them. However, a maroon Dodge Ram pickup moving westbound in the center lane struck the Ford Focus.
Police said that Arroyo, who drove the Ford Focus, died from his injuries at the scene. Paramedics airlifted Rawlings, who is his front seat passenger, to a local hospital where she died from sustained injuries.
The Weslaco Police Department crash reconstruction team handles the ongoing investigation of the incident.
Weslaco Police said if your vehicle stalls or you notice a stalled vehicle on the roadway, report it to them at (956) 968-8591.
