Manuel Vasquez Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run on Monterey Road

 
SAN JOSE, CA (May 18, 2023) — A man identified as 54-year-old Manuel Vasquez of Oakland died in a hit-and-run accident on Friday, May 5.
 
According to the San Jose Police Department, the crash took place in the 1900 block of Monterey Road near Stauffer Boulevard just after 11:00 p.m.
 
Police said an unknown vehicle traveling southbound on Monterey Road struck Vasquez who was in the roadway. Then the vehicle fled the scene without checking on Vasquez. A second vehicle may also have hit the pedestrian after he fell.
 
Emergency responders pronounced him dead on the scene.
 
The San Jose Police Department handles the ongoing investigation of the incident. They urge anyone with information to call Detective Malvido at 408-277-4654
 
According to police, the fatality is San Jose’s 14th traffic death of 2023.
