High-Speed Chase Suspect Mario Marton Identified in Fatal Accident in Upshur County

 
UPSHUR COUNTY, TX (April 3, 2024) – Gregg County deputies identified 47-year-old Mario Tywan Marton who died in a high-speed accident on Farm-to-Market Road 726 on March 27.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened at Highway 300 around 7:30 AM. Based on a report, investigators got an arrest warrant for Marton for burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a first-degree felony. When they attempted to serve a warrant during a traffic stop, the suspect fled.
 
Officers then initiated a pursuit and it ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed. A Ford Super-Duty pickup was also involved in the incident.
 
As a result, Marton suffered grave injuries and died at the scene.
 
The occupants of the Ford Super-Duty pickup reported minor injuries.
 
As of now, the officers are investigating the crash. In addition, no other details are available.
