Maria Ramos Dead after Phoenix Hit-and-Run on 41st Street and Indian School Road

 
PHOENIX, AZ (March 1, 2024) — A woman identified as 59-year-old Maria Arrellano Ramos died in a hit-and-run on Friday, February 16.
 
According to Phoenix Police Department, the crash happened in the area of 41st Street and Indian School Road at about 6:30 a.m.
 
Detectives believe Ramos walked across Indian School Road outside of a marked crosswalk. Then a car moving east struck her. After that, another vehicle heading west also hit her. Police said the driver of the second vehicle fled the scene without trying to help.
 
When police and fire crews arrived in the area, they found Ramos in the roadway with serious injuries. Paramedics rushed her to a hospital where she died a short time later.
 
Authorities urge anyone who witnessed the incident to call Silent Witness at 480-948-6377. A person with info that results in an arrest can get a reward of up to $2,000.
 
Officials closed Indian School Road in both directions from 40th Street to 42nd Street for several hours during the on-scene investigation. It has but has since reopened.
