Maria Lopez Identified in Fatal Ventura Car Accident

 
VENTURA, CA (May 26, 2023) – The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office identified 50-year-old Maria Martinez Lopez of Oxnard who died in an accident on Telegraph Road on May 22.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just east of Pistachio Avenue around 5:30 AM. Based on a report, Lopez had been driving a 2020 Nissan Kicks eastbound on the road at the time of the crash.
 
When a deer had walked into the road, she hit it and crashed into a 2015 Ford Explorer that was headed westbound.
 
As a result, Lopez suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
A passenger in the Nissan and the driver and a passenger in the Ford sustained minor to moderate injuries. Officials took them to hospitals by ambulance.
 
Neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the accident.
 
As of now, authorities urge anyone who witnessed or has information about the incident to contact the CHP’s Ventura-area office at 805-662-2640. An investigation into the case is ongoing.
