Carlos Smith Identified in Fatal Bicycle Accident Involving Hit-and-Run Driver on 98th Avenue in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (May 26, 2023) – Police identified 50-year-old Carlos Smith who died in a hit-and-run on 98th Avenue on May 17.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of D Street while the victim as bicycling to the store to buy food for his pets. Based on a report, a vehicle struck him and fled the scene.
 
Officers were not able to give any details but a witness said she saw a white vehicle taking off after the crash.
 
As a result, Smith suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
On Friday, his family gathered together to honor his memory. They are seeking for justice to find the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
