Dorothy Cousins and James Hendrickson Killed, David Hart Seriously Injured in Crash on Highway 1 [Castroville, CA]

James Hendrickson, Dorothy Cousins Identified in Fatal Head-On Crash in Castroville

 
CASTROVILLE, CA (May 26, 2023) – Police identified 79-year-old Dorothy Cousins of Soquel and 76-year-old James Hendrickson of Dandridge, Tennessee who died in a crash on Highway 1 on May 23.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened just south of Molera Road shortly before 1:00 PM. Based on a report, Cousins was driving on the highway at the time of the crash.
 
At the same time, 69-year-old David Hart of Santa Cruz was also on the highway at the opposite direction. Due to unknown reasons, Hart drove across the double yellow lines and hit Cousins’ vehicle.
 
As a result, Cousins and Hendrickson suffered grave injuries and died in the incident.
 
Hart and another passenger in Cousins’ car had major injuries. Emergency crews transported them to Natividad Medical Center for treatment.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
