Man in Wheelchair Fatally Struck in Henderson Pedestrian Accident on Lake Mead Parkway
HENDERSON, NV (May 7, 2024) — A man died in a pedestrian accident on Lake Mead Parkway on Sunday, April 28.
According to the Henderson Police, the incident took place in the area of Lake Mead Parkway and Cornelius Kelly Avenue at about 3:50 a.m.
The investigation determined a grey Toyota SUV traveled westbound on Lake Mead. At the same time, the 71-year-old man was outside of a marked crosswalk.
The man then entered the travel lanes northbound into traffic, trying to cross the street. Then the SUV struck him.
Responding officers pronounced the pedestrian dead on the scene. The Clark County Coroner’s Office has not yet released his name pending notification of his loved ones.
Police said the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
HPD believes impairment and speed were not factors in this accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash as the tenth accident-related fatality for 2024.
