Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Old Redwood Highway

 
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (October 13, 2022) — A 73-year-old man from Sebastopol died while a woman suffered injuries while they crossed the street in front of 5736 Old Redwood Highway on Sunday night, October 9.

The fatal collision involved a Hyundai Veloster hatchback with two people inside, according to the Santa Rosa California Highway Patrol which responded to the scene at around 7:56 p.m.

Authorities said the two pedestrians attempted to walk from a parking lot of an establishment across Old Redwood Highway. Then, a northbound Veloster collided into them.

The elderly man died at the scene, while the 66-year-old woman got transported to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Veloster emerged from the incident unharmed.

The circumstances behind the crash remain unknown. Although the CHP determined that the driver had not been influenced by alcohol or drugs at the time of the collision.

An investigation is ongoing.
