Fatal Speeding Car Accident on Highway 7

 
TACOMA, WA (December 4, 2024) — One person died following a speeding accident on Highway 7 on Saturday, November 23.
 
According to Washington State Patrol, the incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. on Highway 7 near milepost 48.
 
The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said a trooper noticed a driver in a Lexus sedan speeding on Highway 7. When they tried to pull the driver over, he sped away. After that, the suspect hit a Ford truck traveling in the northbound lanes.
 
A 50-year-old male passenger in the speeding vehicle sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics brought the 44-year-old Ford truck driver to a medical center.
 
Emergency responders also brought the suspect driver to a nearby hospital for a blood draw. After that, officers booked him for second-degree murder.
 
WSP said they diverted traffic to 180th Street South.
