Man Struck by Stolen Car after Hit-and-Run Accident on 35th Avenue

 
PHOENIX, AZ (October 10, 2023) — A man suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on 35th Avenue on Thursday, September 7.
 
According to Phoenix police, the crash – involving a stolen Kia – occurred at about 6:00 a.m. in a neighborhood near 35th Avenue and Bell Road.
 
Police said the driver struck an older man who was out on a walk. Then the driver struck several other parked vehicles before crashing into the garage.
 
Paramedics transported the man to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
 
Surveillance video showed that three juveniles went out of the vehicle. Then they ran off into the neighborhood, Phoenix police stated.
 
With assistance from the School Resource Officer, police officers identified and detained all three Greenway High School students. After that, they booked the driver of the vehicle into Maricopa County Juvenile Courts Center. They released the other two students with pending charges to their parents.
 
Police have not released the identities of all three minors.
