Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle on 70 Freeway in Golden
GOLDEN, CO (June 12, 2023) – Officers confirmed that a man who was running from a trooper died in a pedestrian accident on 70 Freeway on June 1.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened near Highway 6 around 1:50 AM. Based on a report, a CSP trooper saw the man going west in the eastbound lanes of Highway 470 prior to the crash.
The trooper was able to stop the victim but he eventually fled the scene and drove down a grassy median. Subsequently, he went over a retaining wall and landed on the eastbound off-ramp of 70 Freeway to Highway 6. The suspect then ran from the vehicle across the off-ramp, jumped over another concrete barrier, where a passing vehicle struck him.
As a result, the victim died in the incident. Officials did not yet release his name, pending kin notification.
CSP said the driver of the vehicle remained on scene.
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
