TOLLESON, AZ (May 24, 2024) — A man died following a pedestrian accident on 83rd Avenue on Tuesday, May 14.
 
According to Tolleson police, the fatal collision occurred near 83rd Avenue and Van Buren Street at about 4:00 a.m.
 
Police said the man tried to cross 83rd Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk. Then a vehicle struck him.
 
Authorities pronounced the man dead at the scene.
 
The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police.
 
Police do not believe impairment and speed were factors in the crash.
 
Authorities closed 83rd Avenue south of Van Buren while they investigated and cleared the scene. They also advised motorists to avoid the area.
 
Officers continue to investigate the accident.
