Lydia Reis Identified in Fatal Tucson Hit-and-Run, Guadalupe Solis Arrested

 
TUCSON, AZ (January 13, 2022) – The Pima County Sheriff’s Department identified 63-year-old Lydia Reis as the victim who died in a hit-and-run on Ina Road on January 5.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near Giaconda Way around 6:30 AM. Based on a report, the victim who was dubbed “The Umbrella Lady” was in the roadway at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown circumstances, an eastbound vehicle struck her and left the scene.
 
As a result, Reis suffered severe injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported her to a hospital, where she died.
 
The Oro Valley Police Department found the driver, 53-year-old Guadalupe Solis. Officers booked her into the Pima County Jail. Solis faces a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious physical injury or death, the sheriff’s department said.
 
No other information is known at this time.
