Lorraine Gardner Identified in Fatal Durango Crash on Highway 160

 
DURANGO, CO (April 18, 2023) – The La Plata County Coroner’s Office identified 59-year-old Lorraine Gardner of Mountain Village as the victim who died in a head-on crash on Highway 160 on April 12.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the collision happened about 3 miles east of Hesperus around 1:00 PM. Based on a report, a Jeep Cherokee was traveling west toward Hesperus prior to the crash.

At the same time, Gardner was driving a Toyota Rav4 east on the road. Due to unknown reasons, the Cherokee crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the Rav4.

As a result, Gardner died of multiple fractures.

Crews took the 46-year-old Cortez man who was driving the Cherokee to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries before being flown to a Denver-area hospital.

As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
