Linda McIntyre Dies, Charlotte Ann Buck Gets Injured After Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 246

SOLVANG, CA (October 13, 2022) — 73-year-old Linda McIntyre died while Charlotte Ann Buck suffered injuries following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 246 on Wednesday afternoon, October 5.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred around 1:00 p.m. in Buellton Flats near Skytt Mesa Drive, west of Solvang.

Authorities said a Honda CRV – driven by McIntyre with 73-year-old Buck as passenger – trailed behind a vehicle being operated by 71-year-old Stephen Waldman along westbound 246.

Waldman then prepared to make a U-turn after pulling over to the side of the road. From there, he made an “unsafe turn” in front of the Honda, causing a collision.

The force of impact forced the Honda to veer off the road and crash into an oak tree.

McIntyre suffered major injuries and received transportation to the Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, where she later died.

Buck sustained moderate injuries, which required treatment at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Meanwhile, Waldman was unharmed.

The circumstances behind the incident remain under investigation. Officials are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Buellton CHP office at 805.688.5551.
