Linda Hernandez, John Escontrias Identified in Fatal Odessa Crash; 19-Year-Old Jose Ramirez Arrested for DUI

 
ODESSA, TX (December 15, 2022) Odessa Police identified 23-year-old Linda I. Hernandez and 20-year-old John A. Escontrias as the victims who died in a crash on East 42nd Street on December 10.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened in the 4900 block of the street around 1:15 AM.
 
Based on a report, Escontrias was a passenger in a Dodge Charger driven by 19-year-old Jose A. Ramirez. Officers said Ramirez was speeding prior to the crash.
 
Subsequently, he lost control of the vehicle, which caused him to hit another car that Hernandez was driving.
 
As a result, Escontrias died at the scene. Hernandez died the Medical Center Hospital.
 
Police arrested Ramirez on two counts of Intoxication Manslaughter and booked him into the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing.
