Lidia Carranza Identified in Fatal SUV and School Bus Crash on Barker Cypress Road at Queenston Boulevard in Cypress

 
CYPRESS, TX (October 6, 2023) – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified 26-year-old Lidia Salgado Carranza who died in a head-on crash on Barker Cypress Road on October 3.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Queenston Boulevard. Based on a report, Carranza was driving a small Nissan Rogue SUV at the time of the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, she failed to yield to a Cy-Fair ISD school bus when she exited from a private driveway. The school bus driver, 64-year-old Donna Hill, tried to veer left to avoid the SUV but hit it.
 
As a result, Carranza suffered grave injuries in the incident. Crews took her to Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, where she later died.
 
Officials said she was wearing a seatbelt and had an open container of alcohol in the SUV. It was not yet clear if intoxication was a factor.
 
Hill and the three students in the bus were not seriously hurt in the crash.
 
As of now, the case remains under investigation. In addition, no other details are available.
