Lesly De La Cerda Killed after Hit-and-Run in North Alamo
NORTH ALAMO, TX (October 30, 2024) — 30-year-old Lesly Garza De La Cerda died in a hit-and-run on Sunday, September 8.
According to San Juan Police Chief Leandro Sifuentes, the incident occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on Cesar Chavez Road and FM 495.
Sifuentes said the female driver of a minivan failed to yield the right of way. Then it crashed into another vehicle at the intersection.
The minivan driver left the scene on foot. Police later found her a few blocks from the scene.
Medical responders pronounced De La Cerda, a passenger in the second vehicle, died at the scene. Her 36-year-old husband, the driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old male, and a 12-year-old female sustained injuries. They remain hospitalized after the incident.
Authorities have not released the identity of the suspect.
