David Chapa Arrested in Hit-and-Run on FM 2044 at Highway 44 [Alice, TX]

Suspected Hit-and-Run Driver David Chapa Involved in Alice Car Crash

 
ALICE, TX (October 30, 2024) – Authorities arrested 25-year-old David Lee Chapa of Alice following a hit-and-run on FM 2044 on October 8.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at Highway 44 at approximately 1:50 PM. Based on a report, Chapa was driving a speeding 2018 Chevrolet Camaro on FM 2044 before the crash.
 
Due to unknown reasons, he ran a stop sign at the Highway 44 intersection and crashed into a 2021 Toyota RAV4.
 
As a result, Chapa’s passenger, Misty Cervantes, sustained injuries in the crash. Police said two adults and two small children in the Toyota were also hurt.
 
Chapa tried to run away from the scene on foot but officers were able to catch him. He fainted while in custody and was taken to a nearby hospital.
 
As of now, an investigation into the case is ongoing. In addition, no other details are available.
