Leslie Harriman Killed in Metro Bus Accident in Tempe
TEMPE, AZ (May 22, 2024) — A 61-year-old man identified as Leslie Harriman, of Phoenix, died in a Metro bus accident on Thursday, May 9.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the crash happened on Loop 202 near Scottsdale Road at around 11:31 p.m.
A Valley Metro bus with mechanical problems was stopped in the westbound HOV lane of Loop 202. Then a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Harriman slammed into the bus.
Troopers at the scene said the pickup truck did not show any sign of braking before it crashed with the bus. The incident trapped the driver in the vehicle.
Emergency responders brought Harriman to the hospital where medical officers pronounced him dead.
Authorities closed Loop 202 for around four hours as state troopers investigated the accident. The section of the Loop 202 is open now.
