Laura Sanders Identified in Fatal Amarillo Crash on Southeast 3rd Avenue

 
AMARILLO, TX (March 20, 2023) – The Amarillo Police Department identified 42-year-old Laura Sanders as the victim who died in a red-light car crash on Southeast 3rd Avenue on March 18.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at around 7:28 PM. Based on a report, Sanders was driving a Ford sedan northbound on Buchanan Street prior to the crash.
 
At the same time, a 48-year-old man was driving a GMC pickup truck at a high rate of speed on 3rd Avenue. As the truck approached the intersection, it drove through the red light and struck the victim’s Ford.
 
As a result, Sanders suffered grave injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital, where she died.
 
The pickup’s driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
As of now, APD’s Traffic Investigation Unit is investigating the case.
