PHOENIX, AZ (August 31, 2023) – The Phoenix Police Department identified 52-year-old Kurt Barbick who died in a hit-and-run on 52nd Avenue on August 15.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at McDowell Road at approximately 8:00 PM. Based on a report, Barbick was crossing the intersection at the time of the crash.
 
While he was mid-block, an SUV hit him and fled the scene.
 
As a result, Barbick suffered critical injuries in the incident. Phoenix Fire transported him to a hospital, where he later died.
 
Detectives are seeking information about the incident and ask the community to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS with any details.
