LUBBOCK, TX (September 11, 2024) – The Lubbock Police Department identified ACU head football coach Keith Patterson and three others who suffered injuries in a crash on Marsha Sharp Freeway on August 31.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened at University Avenue. Based on a report, Patterson was in an ACU charter bus following a game between ACU and Texas Tech University.
 
At the intersection, a truck disregarded traffic directions and struck their bus. The collision pushed the bus into another vehicle.
 
As a result, Patterson complained of hip and leg pain. Linebackers coach Conor Dublin had a concussion, student-athlete Sam Mason Jr. sustained a cut and bruise on his head and bus driver Darryl Kelley was assessed for possible broken ribs. Emergency crews rushed them to the hospital for evaluation and treatment.
 
Officers arrested the truck driver, 19-year-old Parker Young, for DWI.
