According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened near Sunnyside Avenue around 7:30 PM.
Based on a report, Goings was driving west in the eastbound lanes of the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to wrong-way driving, he crashed head-on into another car.

Goings and the driver of the Nissan, 23-year-old Maurilio D. Trejo of Grandview, and a 5-year-old girl who was riding in the Nissan were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where their condition was not immediately known.
