KILLEEN, TX (April 29, 2024) — Authorities arrested 23-year-old Kaleb Uriah Smith, of Killeen, after a hit-and-run on Saturday, April 13.

Officers responded to the 100 block of South 38th Street after receiving reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. However, the involved driver left the scene.

Emergency responders airlifted the female victim to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.

While officers investigated the crash, dispatchers notified them that a man called in and told them that he heard a thump. He thought he might have struck something in the area of 38th Street.

Officers went to his location and discovered a Nissan Sentra with front-end damage. Police determined that after the accident, the driver of the vehicle stopped briefly. Then he saw other vehicles behind him and left the area. He later called from his home.
