Adams County Deputy Joshua Tapia Fatally Struck in Fort Lupton Pedestrian Accident
FORT LUPTON, CO (October 30, 2024) — Adams County deputy and retired firefighter, Joshua Tapia, died in an accident on Tuesday, October 8.
Fort Lupton Police said the accident occurred on Colorado 52 near South Purman Avenue at around 9:27 p.m.
Reports said Tapia was walking in the area when a vehicle struck him. The driver of the car stopped, checked on Tapia, and called the authorities.
Paramedics arrived and then transported Tapia to a hospital, where he died from sustained injuries.
In a memorial post, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said that Deputy Tapia devoted over 25 years of service. He was also a member of Rampart Search and Rescue — an organization that helps missing and stranded people in Adams and Lincoln counties. Lastly, Tapia was also a retired firefighter from the Fort Lupton Fire Protection District.
