Joshua McCracken Identified in Fatal Crash on Highway 349 in Martin County
MARTIN COUNTY, TX (December 30, 2022) – Officials identified 25-year-old Joshua Paul McCracken of Big Spring as the victim who died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 349 on December 21.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the collision happened about 10 miles north of Midland.
Based on a report, a semi-truck was southbound on the highway prior to the crash. It was stopped in the inside lane waiting to turn left onto a private road. At the same time, a truck was also southbound on the highway. At that point, McCracken failed to control speed and struck the trailer of the semi from behind. Another vehicle struck the trailer of the semi and a fourth vehicle was struck by debris.
As a result, McCracken suffered grave injuries in the incident. Paramedics transported him to Midland Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
This crash is still under investigation.
