Jose Ramirez Fatally Injured after San Juan Car Crash

 
SAN JUAN, TX (February 8, 2024) — A 60-year-old man identified as Jose Ramirez, of Edinburg, died in a two-car crash on Wednesday, January 31.
 
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred on Highway 281 west of South Stewart Road at around 9:03 p.m.
 
An initial investigation determined a red Chevrolet Uplander driven by Ramirez was stationary southbound at a stop sign.
 
At the same time, a green International ProStar truck towing a silver Truxton Tanker transporting petroleum moved westbound on Highway 281. Then the driver of the Chevrolet did not yield the right-of-way at the stop sign.
 
As the Chevrolet tried to make a left turn onto Highway 281, it crashed into the truck.
 
Ramirez died at the scene.
 
EMS responders rushed the male truck driver to McAllen Medical Center with minor injuries.
 
DPS Troopers continue to investigate the incident.
